Holy Moly

Oh my goodness has life changed in the last 6 days.  For the better thank goodness.  Last weekend I went to Norman for some good ol' Oklahoma football.  Tall Tan Man "flew" in for the game, and Sarah and I drove from Dallas.  We had fun seeing the mums...

Tailgating...which usually turns into a photo shoot.

Watching Pawpaw turn 88 was wonderful...

And lastly I GOT ENGAGED! There are still no words for how happy I am.  Thankfully, my cousin/friend/MOH was there to take pictures.  I will be sure to share them when I get them.  :)  We might have picked a date {I am up to 77% sure}.  This is up from yesterday.  Regardless of all that hoop-law I am just beyond excited to call Tall Tan Man mine forever and ever.

Style Me Saturday {boots weather plz}

Last weekend was a little hectic with it being OUtx weekend, and I didn't get to post my closet update.  I have decided that if the high is under 80 degrees I can wear boots.  My favorite outfit of the week was my "don't mess with...Oklahoma. Beat Texas" shirt with boots.  OU not only beat Texas, they destroyed them.

Well, I spoke too soon.  This past week was "hot" again.  I'm ready for some highs in the 70s...We had football teacher appreciation day this week.  It took all my strength to not bring out my inner running back.

I'm in Norman with my family, Sarah, and Tall Tan Man!  I'm one happy lady :)

Red River Rivalry

Can you say Red River Rivalry three times fast?  If you can't then just say OU/tx weekeend, but make sure you say OU first.  That is very important.  This weekend is something I look forward to all year.  Who doesn't love good friends, family, fried food, extreme exhaustion, and Oklahoma football domination?  I am sure the Texas fans did not enjoy the Oklahoma domination part...The weekend started with a bday dinner with my bestie, Sarah T.

I don't know what I would do without her.  We pretended we were back in college and headed down to Uptown for a night of people watching and sparatic dancing.  An early morning wake up call for an 11 AM kick off reminded me that I am not quiet as young as I use to be...

If you didn't know I am a 3rd generation Sooner, and OU is where my parents met {aww how cute}.  My brother is a rebel and goes to the University of Arkansas.  At least we have similar colors.  I have decided that if I ever have to move away from my beloved home, coming back for OUtx weekend will have to be a part of the bargain.

The football game takes place on a neutral field in Dallas in the Cotton Bowl.

I love how the stadium is split down the middle...

We dominated.  It was an ugly game for Texas.  I almost felt bad for them.

So many touchdowns and defensive stops resulted in a very hoarse voice.

I'm thankful for a great weekend with friends/family, and I am thankful I am a Sooner.

DIY Vintage BOO Sign

I just had a wonderful weekend.  This was the Red River Rivalry weekend here in Dallas and I don't want to share too much, because I am working on another post.  If you don't know why my weekend was so wonderful go look up the score.  Oklahoma domination.

I am loving my new BOO sign!  I had seen a Christmas sign similar to this one, and thought it would be a perfect fit on my skinny wall.  I am so happy with it I plan on making a Christmas one too.  Hmm maybe I should add it to my Thanksgiving break project to do list... Anyway, all you will need for this project is:

  • Piece of wood {cut to whatever size you need}
  • Black paint
  • White paint
  • B & O letters
  • Pencil
  • Small and large paint brush
  • Sander {or sand paper}
  • Picture hanger
  • Hot Chocolate {optional}

1. Make sure your piece of wood is nice and clean {I stole borrowed took this from my parents garage}.

2.  Paint your piece of wood with 2 coats of black paint {I just used craft paint}.

3.  Using your printer, print the letters B & O as big as possible.  Once you letters are printed you can assess if you need to make them bigger.  If you need to make them bigger you can just put the printed letter under tissue paper, and trace it bigger.  I know this might be challenging for some of us {including me}, but it really isn't to bad... Cut the letters out, and arrange them on your board.  Trace the letters.

4.  Using a smaller paint brush outline the edges of your letters then fill them in with the bigger brush.  I did two coats.

5.  Once the paint is dry run your sander {or sand paper} over the sign until you get the look you want.

6.  Attach the picture hanger to the back, and hang your sign!

Time for me to go make my favorite Tomato Soup, and admire my sign more! :) Have a great week!

Rice Krispie Bundt Cake

It is the middle of the week and I need to do laundry, the dishes, vacuum, dust {it's been awhile} and grade papers but I am not...Just imagine the tune of the late Amy Winehouse "They tried to make me clean my apartment and I said no, no, NO."  Instead I am blogging, crafting, and getting caught up on last nights episode of Hart of Dixie.  I am a sucker for all the CW TV shows.  Speaking of, am I the only one pumped for the Vampire Diaries season premier tomorrow??  I know this is not a normal obsession for someone that is 26, but I just can't help it.  Love triangles, vampires, werewolves...what is not to love?

Today was one of my awesome administrators 40th birthday, and hope I look as good as her at age 27 as she does at 40.  In honor of her special day I made her a Rice Krispie Bundt Cake.  I thought it was pretty age appropriate.  This is a simple, fast, and TASTY dessert!  The combinations of Rice Krispies, candy corn, Reese's Pieces, and chocolate {if your mouth isn't watering then we can't be friends} it pretty phenomenal.  I found this recipe on the blog {Eating Richly}.  Alright, you will need...

 Ingredients:

3 TBSP Butter
16 oz Marshmallows
6 cup rice krispies
1 cup Reese's Pieces
1 cup candy corn
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1.  Melt butter in large pot over medium heat.  Add marshmallows until they are completely melted.  Remove from heat.

2.  Add the Rice Krispies and stir until combine.  Add Reese's Pieces and Candy Corn.

3.  Grease bundt cake pan and spoon in mixture.  This gets a little messy... If you put a little cooking spray on some wax paper it makes it easier to manipulate the mixture.  Using the wax paper firmly press down mixture into pan.

4.  Allow Rice Krispie Cake to cool completely before removing from the pan.  Melt your chocolate in microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds {and 15 second increments after, if needed}, and drizzle over the top.

Soooooooo yummy!

Enjoy this dessert and the rest of your week!

Book Pages Pumpkin

My book page obsession contines...

This time I added glitter...

I'm in love...

With a pumpkin.

This year I decided to do my Mod Podge pumpkin using a fake pumpkin. After putting this much work into a project, for it to just mold all over my table isn't cool {lesson learned}.  I originally saw this a glittery pumpkin on Jones Design Company {one of my blog obsessions}, and fell in love.  You do not have to do this project with book pages.  You could pick any scrapbook paper as long as it would look okay all thrown together.

You will need:

Pumpkin
Old book pages ripped in to small pieces
Mod Podge
Glitter
Old Jar

1.  Place pumpkin on a jar and generously apply mod podge to paper and pumpkin.  Try to get paper as close to the stem as possible.  As you finish big sections sprinkle glitter on wet mod podge.

2.  Even though the mod podge is still wet turn your pumpkin over to work on the bottom.  Keep applying TONS of glitter...

3.  Turn pumpkin back over and allow to dry.  If you can rotate pumpkin so it does not stick to the jar then do so.

Here is what else I worked on this weekend! :)

I love studs. Not just the metal kind.

I am very thankful for my weekend with my stud. :)

Style Me Saturday

Hey there! This week my highlight items were my extremely purple pants, and leopard print loafers.  I wonder if I will look back and think "why did I think that looked good?" I got the purple pants from Old Navy, and I have to say I wore them three days in a row.  Just a warning you will probably have to go up two sizes for the colored pants, or you will look like Oliva Newton-John in the last scene of Grease.  Who knows, that could be the look you are going for.  :)  Whatever works for you.  Leopard loafers are from my beloved Target.

Have a fabulous Saturday!

Halloween Mirror Revamp

I am pretty sure the biggest reason why I love Halloween is candy corn.  I have been trying to eat better during the week lately, but allowing myself some cheat meals on Saturdays.  I have decided this will involve candy corn till December...then it is the holidays and most meals are cheat meals...  The tricky part of candy corn is you think you have barely had any then you have a stomach ache {maybe that is just me}.  The other part of Halloween I like is the decor.  It's the only time during the year I think it is okay to use an excessive amount of orange.  I am not going to do a real tutorial...sorry, the mushiness that is also known as my brain can't handle it.

1.  I found plain wood frame at Michael's.

2.  Painted the frame black, and painted the mirror with chalkboard paint.

3.  Covered the frame with scrapbook paper using Mod Podge.

4.  Made a felt flower with {this} tutorial.  Attached the flower using double stick tape so I can change it for different seasons.

5.  Write your favorite Halloween saying.  :)

Have a great Friday!  Soooooo happy to see my man tomorrow!
