Refinished White Dresser

This big ol' white dresser was such a fun project!  First off, I could not believe that it only cost $40.  I felt like I was stealing it when the couple was loading it into my truck.  Overly honest Leslie was saying "are you sure you don't want to keep this? how about I give you more money?"

At first glance the dresser was in perfect condition but the wood was spotted and the poly coat was super thick.  I would of loved to strip and sand this piece but that is so much work.  Work I would not of gotten paid enough to do...

Alright y'all, let's get to it! 👇

White Dresser Makeover:

1.  Removed hardware.

2.  Quickly sand the entire piece with 150 grit sandpaper.  This was to remove an indentation that the hardware left.

3.  Wipe entire piece down with liquid sandpaper.

{liquid sandpaper removed all of the old sheen!}

4.  Tape the edges of the drawers and I also put small pieces of tape on the inside of the drawers to cover the knob holes.  This way when you paint, you don't have to worry about paint dripping into the drawers.

5.  With a roller apply 2 coats of oil based primer.   Sanding lightly between coats until the texture is smooth.

6.  Apply 2-3 coats of paint with a roller and brush when needed.  I used Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Picket Fence.

7.  Apply a finishing wax to the entire piece.  Add an extra coat to the top.

8.  Reattach the hardware!

I know I say this all the time but I loved this project and it might be my favorite!  I think I loved this project so much because the dresser was amazing to begin with.  Beautifully made, perfect wood drawers that slid nicely, and just so different than anything I had ever seen before!
