Happy FALL Y'ALL!

Woooo Happy First Day of Fall!  This is beginning of the best time of the year.  Unfortunately, I am going on 5 days of coughing, sneezing, and sleeping waaay too much :/  Because of all of that my house is a mess, and am behind on blogging...  I am going to recap real quick some of my old post for fall.  Hope you get inspired and start crafting!

Alright, I will keep y'all posted on new projects when I get enough strength to get off the couch.  :)

Do you believe in miracles?

Our home has been full of projects lately.  We are currently working on some wall frames/boards for our living room to display some wedding pictures on.  Late {of course it was late, things like this don't happen early} one night this week Tall Tan Man was staining the boards in our living room...you probably know where this is going...

My hubs is usually the coordinated one.  He was giving me a hard time last week about spraying a wall with stain on accident...

Needless to say he won the award for the biggest wood stain mess.  Right after it happened I got on google and started researching.  I got a couple brand recommendations and sped to Super Target.  I felt like Will Smith in Hitch when he figured out he was allergic to shell fish.  I was grabbing everything I saw that looked promising.  Here is my tutorial on how to remove wood stain from carpet.

1.  The biggest recommendation I kept reading was don't let the stain set.  Dab your carpet to get as much stain off the surface.  Don't be to aggressive.

2.  Spray on Resolve carpet cleaner and let it soak in for 5 minutes.

3.  With an old towel gently rub carpet.  Keep using a clean area of the towel.

4.  Repeat steps 2 & 3 again and again until all the stain is gone.

I think the results are pretty stinkin' impressive!!!  I suggest you go out and buy a bottle of this stuff just in case something crazy goes down in your home.  Have a FABULOUS FRIDAY!!!  I am headed to Oklahoma, and I could be happier to see my family and friends!

Desk Redo

Happy Tuesday evening! One by one I am getting rid of my "girly" furniture.  Our {office} is almost finished, thank goodness!  This is what my desk looked like:

I actually remember buying this desk with my Momma in middle school.  It traveled to college with me my Sophomore year, and got painted black.  Then it came back to Dallas with me after college and received this stenciled top.  As you can see the move was not easy on this baby, but I knew before I moved it needed to be re-done.

First, I sanded this baby and that was really fun.   All that painting over the years made is so easy to get all the paint off.  Just FYI I am never sarcastic.

I stained the top and went over it with this wax.

I love wax.  It is so much easier than using a poly and looks so much smoother.

I did a couple of thin coats of Behr Dark Granite, followed by a layer of wax.  Everything is coming together, except for this chair...

This chair intimidates me, big time.  I only have one last warning...be careful with stain.

I flicked stain all over the wall and day bed.  If you follow me on instagram you know this is not the only stain incident this week.  If you don't then I will catch you soon!  Hope you have a great rest of the week!

Kitchen Menu Sign

Hi y'all!  Tall Tan Man and I have been working hard on finishing up our apartment {it has only taken us 3 months}.  I had seen chalkboard menus before, and thought we had the perfect spot in our kitchen for one.  Tall Tan Man was okay with the idea because it was functional, and he is always interested in what I am cooking.  Or if I was even cooking...

I got two of the cheapest frames from Hobby Lobby, on sale of course, and thought they looked a little to country for us.

I took the frames and painted them with Behr Dark Granite, and painted one of glasses with chalkboard paint {make sure you go over the chalkboard once or twice with chalk before writing on it}.  I took out the glass from the other frame, and replaced it with an old cork board I cut down.

I know all my you might be thinking, "she is cooking some faaancy food."  Well, that was not my normal until I was introduced to EMEALS.  It is a website that you can subscribe to, and they send out weekly menus {grocery list included = awesome}. I am only on my second week and so far so good!

Hope you have a fabulous week!  Colorado is getting a cool down, so I might break out my riding boots! :)
