Happy National ICE CREAM Day!

Hi y'all!  Mack is napping and Mack's Daddy {haha, i love that} is working on our house.  If I didn't already call Tall Tan Man, Tall Tan Man, then I would definitely change his blog name to Mack Daddy.  :)  It has taken 6 months but I think I'm finally feeling more like Leslie than I have in a LONG time.  There is a definite "fog" that came with having a baby.  I'm not sure if it was hormones, lack of sleep, my new role or rolls {get it? ;) }, but I'm finally feeling like I can do this!  Last week I heard that TODAY was National Ice Cream Day and I knew I needed to break out the ice cream maker!  I have {this} KitchenAid one and love it!

I posted this {Vanilla Ice Cream} recipe way back in 2012 and it is still my go to ice cream recipe.  I promise it will not disappoint!  I don't know about you but the food videos on facebook always get me.  They make cooking look easy/fast/simple/not messy so I decided to actually make one of them... instead of sitting on the couch staring at my phone.  Pioneer Woman posted a video of her making cinnamon chips and I knew I needed to try it!  Here is the {recipe}, but it is as simple as baking tortillas that are covered in butter, cinnamon, and sugar at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

I know y'all are dying to see our bathroom and closet renovations but you'll have to wait until later this week!  :)

{failed attempt to make} Mack Updates

Man oh man, I had such high hopes to be a good blogger before I had Mack.  I was going to take pictures every week to document his first year of life and then reality set in.  I was more tired {and hungry} than I had ever been and was never very sure what day it was.  I should of just tried for once a month or even every quarter...  Next time I will do better {deep breaths Tall Tan Man, I am not pregnant}.

Then this Momma dropped our only working laptop {goodbye screen} and lost her camera charger...

I cannot believe how HUGE Mack is.  He loves trees, sitting up, his exer saucer, and the toucan off of the play jungle. My goal will be to have one more Mack post before his first birthday... :)

p.s. This basket was my first baby purchase!

Adding Open Shelves to the Kitchen!

Hey y'all!  Can you believe it is the middle of JULY?  I am learning that time moves incredibly fast once you have a baby!!!  I know I keep saying this, but our house remodel is almost done.  Our front yard and "garage room" are the only remaining spaces that need major TLC.  Just to make sure you have you remember where the kitchen started:

After about a million labor hours...

I was really nervous about adding the open shelves, but I am so glad we did.  The back corner of our kitchen use to be awkward because it was too small for a cabinet but too big to be empty.

I LOVE how the shelves turned out!  Tall Tan Man is giving me the kitchen of my dreams :) To make the shelves we used only one 2x10, cut some 45 degree angles and connected the pieces using the Kreg Jig.  We finished the shelves with Jacobean stain by Minawax and a polyurethane.  The shelves are held up with brackets {with drywall anchors} from Home Depot and a few hidden L brackets.

The shelves are where we will keep our glass cups {no broncos cups, sorry TTM}, coffee pods, and other pretty things from our grandmothers and anthropology.

Here are other post about our kitchen:
