Cinnamon Donuts

Hello!  Two donuts posts in one month...who am I? Oh yeah, someone that can wants needs to eat something sweet everyday.  I woke up before my alarm today and as I lay in bed donuts came to mind.  Totally normal.  I decided that I would make two different versions.  I gave y'all the full recipes but I did half fried and half baked this morning.

Baked Cinnamon Donuts:
Ingredients

Pillsbury Home-style Biscuits
3/4 Cup Sugar
3/4 Tsp Cinnamon
6 TBSP Melted Butter

1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Punch a whole in the middle of the biscuits with somethin' circular. {I used our garlic press}

2.  Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a medium size bowl.

3.  Drop the dough in the bowl of butter, roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture, and place on a baking sheet.

3.  Bake the donuts for 14-16 minutes.

I recommend you eat these warm and with coffee! They are divine if you dip them in coffee.  Being honest I would not make these if you were not going to eat them right away.  They started to taste a little too biscuit-like when they cooled {I love biscuits so I am still eating them...}.

Fried Cinnamon Donuts
Ingredients

Pillsbury Home-style Biscuits
3/4 Cup Sugar
3/4 Tsp Cinnamon
Oil

1.   Begin to heat the oil in a large dutch oven to 350 degrees.  You want about 1-2 inches of oil.  Punch a whole in the middle of the biscuits with a circular object. {see picture above, I used our garlic press}

2.  Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a medium bowl.

3.  Carefully drop dough in the oil.  Allow dough to cook about for about 30 seconds on each side.  You want them to be a nice golden brown.

4.  Using a slotted spatula to remove the donut from the oil and place in the cinnamon sugar bowl.  Move the donut all around until fully covered {The end of a spoon through the middle works well}.

5.  Enjoy with coffee!

I fried the donut holes and they were my favorite part.  Next time I might just make donut holes...

Someone on instagram asked which way turned out better and I couldn't pick.  If you are wanting a real donut texture and taste then fry them bad boys.

If you are wanting more of a cake/scone/biscuit-like texture then bake them.

DIY Wooden Decor Box

I am so ready for the weekend!  How about you?  Did you have 155 teenagers draining you of all your energy?  I did... I am little over decorating our apartment.  I am being such a human and just looking to the next thing {maybe buying a house} rather than being content where I'm out.  I did stumble upon this little box at Hobby Lobby and decided it would be easy to spice up.

First I stained the box with two stains I already had {Minawax: Dark Walnut and Early American}.

After it dried I painted the groves with a white paint pen.  I put dots down each vertical line {about an inch apart} and connected the dots diagonally.  If you need more of an explanation you can see a tutorial {here}.

Happy decorating!

Anniversary Weekend

I love that picture.  The mountains of Colorado are beautiful and one of my favorite things about living here.  Tall Tan Man and I celebrated a year of marriage in Keystone last weekend.  It was such a wonderful weekend!  It was hard to come home to reality....

We both got to go night skiing and stay at a bed and breakfast for the first time ever.  The bed and breakfast was called Ski Tip Lodge and I would HIGHLY recommend it.  The food, service, and lodge were beyond amazing.

If only I could have some more of that french toast right now... When we got home I told Tall Tan Man I wanted to start a anniversary picture tradition.  Let's just say it did not turn out quiet as cute as I was shooting for and almost resulted in a fight.  :)

Love you Tall Tan Man!

One Year

Caroline Jurgensen Photography

We can't really believe it... exactly one year ago Tall Tan Man, myself, and our favorite people in the world were tearing up the dance floor at our wedding reception!   I had never posted pictures from the wedding of just TTM and I, and today seems like a perfect day.

This was the happiest day of my life.  All of these images came from Caroline Jurgensen Photography.  The last year has been full of ups and downs I will share all that in a later post.  I will also share our fun weekend getaway we had to celebrate a year of marriage as well.  If you want to see our awesome wedding video click {here}.  It was created by the wildly talented BC Serna, and it makes me so happy to watch it.

God has been good to us and been so faithful throughout this year.  Today's message at church was the first of a marriage series.  I know God knew how much this would reassure me he is here with us.  Our commitment to each other has to first begin our commitment to Jesus.  Have a wonderful week full of LOVE!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Brrrr! It is really cold in Colorado...How cold?

Yep, I had to get my Starbucks through an open door, because the window was frozen shut {life is sooo rough}.  I don't want say much about the Super Bowl, because it was a pretty painful experience.  The highlight of our night was hanging out with good people and eating yummy food.  I had spotted this {Sugar Cookie Recipe} on pinterest and was dying to try it.  The recipe is from the Cooking Classy Blog.

I am going to go ahead and blame these scrumptiously yummy cookies for the stomach ache I went to bed with on Sunday.  I gave a up sweets in January and I over did it on the sweets at our party.  I really liked this recipe, because the cookies were simple and the prefect level of sweetness.

Hope you guys have a great Thursday!  It is my Friday because Tall Tan Man I are going to be celebrating our one year anniversary with a three day weekend! :)

Saturday Morning Donuts

Happy Saturday!  Just wanted to say a quick hi and share a donut recipe with y'all.  I found this {Lemon Blueberry Donuts} recipe on the Wipperberry Blog a couple weeks back.  I had been waiting for the best time to try them out, and after running three miles on treadmill this morning I thought it was perfect timing.  If I am being honest I was virgin frier and pretty nervous about a vat of hot oil.  That sounded weird...I am happy to say there were no injuries, and the donuts turned out pretty delicious.  Go on over and check out the {recipe}, and I will share just a couple things!  I used a garlic press to cut the hole.

The only issue I had with the recipe was the glaze.  It turned out waaaay too thick.  I wish I just drizzled it on instead of dunking them.  This didn't stop me from eating two of them, because they were still super yummy!  Have a great weekend! :)
