Painting Window Sills

Oh hi there! :) We are just cranking along with house projects over here.  I decided not to posts about re-caulking our basement shower or watering our grass seed 3 times a day... not everything in a house remodel is "picture worthy" or fun.    I am not sure if this project is really post worthy either, so I want to go ahead and apologize for my mediocrity.  Now if you are in the same situation as we were and experiencing the "ugly window sill syndrome" you are in the right place! Our house window sills were very nasty looking...

I am not sure how someone could ever think this looks good... We thought about ripping them out and replacing them with new wood sills and trim.  After some research I decided that would be a major project and at this point were looking for the best and most efficient fixes.

Our windows sills are now so much cleaner and prettier.  :) All we did was paint 2 coats of oil based primer and 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Dove White.  It only took us one night and a morning to finish.  When I say us, I mean my awesome friend Jill :)

Jill not only is beautiful, but also super handy {Jill - start blogging again, pleeeeease}!

Another project I am super excited about is our kitchen counter tops. We have been working on them in the basement and should be installing them next week.  Wooo hoooo!!!

I hope y'all have a fantastic week and Fourth of July!  :)

Beachin'

Hello!  I have been super MIA this month...

I think I needed to stop and recharge my batteries a little.  June has been absolutely glorious.  I have "slept in", not needed under eye concealer, worn a lot of work out clothes, been to ikea twice, had cereal for lunch, and caught up on some netflicks!  Don't hate me.  Well, if you didn't hate me already I would like to inform you I am currently hanging out in the beautiful Key West, Florida.

Wind blown hair and all.  It is safe to say that when I get back to Colorado I should be ready to conquer the world {or at least some home remodel projects}.

One last thing, how do you like my new blog design?  I am in LOVE!  The very talented Rachel Cox at {Oh Simple Thoughts} did an AMAZING job.  She was so professional and I could not be happier with her work!

Alright y'all, I am off to recharge my batteries for a little while longer... See you soon!

DIY Giant Jenga

Happy Weekend & HAPPY Summer!  Tis' the season for grilling, sunshine, cold beverages, and backyarding.  Can I get a heck yes!?!  Since our {backyard needs so much work} I decided we needed some games for when people come over...maybe a little distraction from all the chaos of our house.  :)  This little project is super easy and really hard to screw up {aka my favorite}.

DIY Giant Jenga

Supplies:
  • 48 - 10.5 inch pieces cut from 2 x 4s {5-6 2x4s needed}
  • Sandpaper
  • Craft Paint

Process:

1.  Cut the 2x4s.  If your lucky the guy at Home Depot will do it for FREE... SCORE!  You want your pieces as close to 10.5 as possible because three 2x4s across is {3.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 =} 10.5.

2.  Sand all the rough edges and sides of the 2x4s.  This takes forever...

3.  This step is optional but I decided to paint the edges fun colors.  Tall Tan Man was upset I didn't do red, white and blue... He suggested this after I started painting.

4.  Game on!

I hope you have an amazing weekend!!!  We are headed to Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line.  Yeeehawwwww

Hello Twenty Nine

And just like that, my twenties are ALMOST GONE....

Pretty crazy.  Wasn't I just in college?   Oh wait, that would be a big no.  I can't stay up late and can you believe the music kids listen to these days?  Absolutely terrible.  Getting older is not that awful {I would like to sleep in past 7 every once in a while} and thankfully my birthdays are still special to me. :)

My birthday weekend started at the only Mexican restaurant I like in Denver, Hacienda Colorado. I love fajitas!

Up next was a backyard BBQ with our new Jenga set {tutorial coming this week}:

There was delicious cupcakes of course!

Yesterday my friend Jill and I decided to do the Manitou Incline.  It was definitely tough and Jill may never come back to Denver.  Sorry Jill!

160 flights of stairs... feel... the... burn!!!

We had to stop at Garden of the Gods. I definitely recommend this if you are in Colorado Springs.

One of my biggest and most exciting birthday surprises was this buffet:

Isn't it gorgeous?!  I can wait to finish it.  My stud of a husband made that for me in SECRET.  He is so good to me.   Alright, I am going to lay here all night because

a.  I can't walk
b.  It is summer break!!!

If you are bored and want to see how much I have aged you can check my {25th}, {26th}, & {28th} birthdays!
