Wedding Stump Keepsake

Happy Thursday!  A few months ago Tall Tan Man's Momma asked him to add something to the top of this stump.  She got it from our wedding. :)

Tall Tan Man used a wood burner and stencil for the design.  I think it looks great!

TTM's Momma loved it!  What do you think he should do to our stump?  Same thing?  I'm stumped...

 I love vacation.  I have spent the last couple days in the panhandle of Texas hanging out with my awesome Grandad.  He is a funny man...

Growing up I use to think my Grandad could do whatever he wanted and knew everyone in his town.  Turns out he does do what he wants and is super friendly.  :)

We went out driving one afternoon.  I think this part of the county is beautiful.

Alright, onto to Dallas!  I love this place :)

DIY Wedding Date Sign

Hi there.  I can't believe it.  It is Spring Break...  I am SO thankful my job gets a week off every March {and October, December oh and there's that whole summer thang}.  I will be heading to TEXAS this weekend and I am so excited to see some of my favorite people.  Tall Tan Man was suppose to go and then he went and got himself promoted.  Gesh... :)  I am so proud of the all the hard work he has put into this career.

Alright, onto this little project.  We have had {this} Christmas sign up since...well...Christmas.  I didn't have a non seasonal sign so I decided to make one during our latest Walking Dead marathon.  I saw the idea on pinterest way back when, and it is from {Nalle's House} blog.

Canvas {15x30}
Numbers Printed
Black Paint
Black Paint Pen {Optional}

1. Print your wedding date.  I used Stencil font and the size 650.

2.  Cut out the numbers and  arrange them on the canvas.

3.  Stencil the numbers on the canvas.

4.  Fill in the number with paint.  You could use a paint pen to trace the outside of the numbers.  Painting a strait edge can be a challenge...

There you go!

I am so happy how it turned out!

Alright, I am going to try to stay up late late I mean 10:30.  :/

Key Lime Pi {Happy Pi Day}

 Hellllo & Happy Pi Day!  Today is a mixture of two of my favorite things, math & dessert.  What more could a girl ask for?  Pie is not my normal dessert choice, but on March 14th it always wins.  The only other pie I have blogged about is this {Peanut Butter & Chocolate Pie} and it is super tasty.

Today I am sharing a Key Lime Pie recipe.  This is not a normal Key Lime Pie.... It's better!  I found it on Pinterest and it is only 3 weight watcher points {if I am being honest I don't know what mean but I am guessing it's good}.  You can check out the original recipe from Pies - Tasty Cooking Recipes by just clicking {here}.

Graham Cracker Crust
1 Egg White
3 oz Lime Jello
1/4 Cup Boiling Water
1 TSP Lime Zest
1/4 Cup Lime Juice
2 - 5.3 oz Lime Greek Yogurt
1 - 8 oz Container Whipped Topping {thawed}

1.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees and brush crust with egg white {Be careful to not leave any globs or you will end up with breakfast eggs...not that I did that...}.

2.  Combine Jello and boiling water in a medium mixing bowl that can stand the heat.

3.  Add in lime zest & juice, stirring until combined.

4.  With a whisk mix in the yogurt, and with a spatula fold in the thawed whipped topping {the more thawed the better}.

5.  Transfer mixture into your cooled pie crust and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.  I let mine refrigerate overnight.  It was a tough wait, but well worth it.

I am thinking this might be one of my go to summer recipes when the temperatures warm up.  I don't know if I will ever think 58 degrees is "nice weather" like a lot of my fellow Coloradans do.   Hope you have a fabulous weekend and my spring break countdown is down to...

Back at it

Hi there!  I don't know about you, but winter is my toughest season to work out.  I think sweaters and jeggings allow the lbs to sneak up on me.  I have also had some big life changes lately...

 None of those are an excuse to eat ridiculous amounts of queso, chocolate, and carbohydrates... but that is what happened.  Some of my skirts started to look a little more form fitting than a year ago so I decided that I needed to change that.  To help myself out of this rut, I am going to run another half marathon!  I am super excited.  The half is a really fun distance for me and requires me to train {hello structure!}.  Here is my training plan:

I am no professional or doctor, so make sure you know what your getting into.  This is a compilation of a couple training schedules and gets me in good shape if I stick to it!  I also got some new kicks to help me out.

 I am not sure how much of my training will be outside, because I have been told by multiple sources that March & April are the snowiest months {totally weird and terrible}.  Good thing I like the treadmill!!

Frozen Chocolate Coved Bananas

 Happy Sunday!  It has been a while since I have posted a healthy dessert.  I will tell y'all that this might be my favorite healthy dessert.  Ever.  Well, actually I think it is tied with {chocolate and peanut butter covered banana slices}.  I saw these Popsicles made on one of my favorite fashion blogs {See Jane}, and I figured they would be worth a shot!  Unfortunately, I skipped the part of adding oil to the chocolate so mine look a little funny because the chocolate wasn't very workable.  You will notice I started with 6 popsicles and only pictured 3 in the end... The others were eaten immediately because of their lack of beauty.  That was a tough decision.

3 Bananas {cut in half}
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
1 TBSP Canola Oil
Peanuts, Pistachios, or Anything you want {optional}

1.  Stick popsicle sticks in each banana half & freeze for an hour.

2.  Melt chocolate & oil in a double broiler or in the microwave.  Make sure you don't burn the chocolate!

3.  Dip the bananas in chocolate and use a spoon to get the chocolate all over!

4.  Sprinkle bananas with desired topping.

5.  Refrigerate for two hours before serving {my ugly ones didn't even make it back in the freezer and they were still divine}.

I hope you have a fabulous week!  My spring break countdown is TWO weeks.  I can't wait to have a little time off to recharge my brain!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

You are looking at my dinner from Saturday.  Pretty perfect meal if you ask me.  I feel like making Chocolate Chip Cookies can be tricky, because everyone has had an amazing chocolate chip cookie.  I pinned this recipe 42 weeks ago so it was about time I made it.  Maybe I should make a summer goal to create all my pinned recipes... This chocolate chip recipe was from the Tender Crumb blog.  I followed the recipe closely except I used all purpose flour as well as cake flour.  I made these spur of the moment, and I don't keep pastry and bread flour on hand.

They were approved from my coworkers and friends!  I hope you have a wonderful warmer week :)

14 in 2014 {update #1}

Hello!  I need to confess,  I have been a little unmotivated lately.  Usually I have no problem cooking Sunday - Wednesday, but last Wednesday I found myself exhausted on the couch asking Tall Tan Man to order pizza.  Cooking on Thursday does not happen in our house.  If you have the energy to do that then you are my hero!  I haven't made much of a dent on my goals for this year yet:

1.  Run two races.
2.  Take our honeymoon.
3.  Take my camera off automatic.
4.  Make friends at church.
5.  Buy a house.!!!???
6.  Hike a fourteener.
7.  Visit friends in Dallas, Houston, OKC, Phoenix and Nashville.
8.  Go skiing
9.  Finish a non Nicholas Sparks book.
10.  Cook a seafood dish for Tall Tan Man {i loathe seafood}.
11.  Take a cake decorating class this summer.
12.  Send birthday cards.
13.  Work on getting abs.
14.  Get a blowout.

You can check out my ski trip post {here}.

A few weeks ago we were in Phoenix visiting Tall Tan Man's teammate from Arizona and his sweet family.

They had the most precious boys that were so fun!

We have started the house buying process and it is fun/exciting/stressful.  The houses here in Colorado are different than what I am use to {more expensive, smaller, no master bathroom, or walk in closets}. I guess everything in Texas was bigger.  We are both okay with looking until we find what we want or we may just rent again.  :)

Alright, I will try to do better over the next two months!
