Painting Adirondack Chairs
Hello! What do you think of our "new" turquoise adirondack chairs??? Our {backyard} is still a work in progress but these chairs are definitely helping ;). Poor Tall Tan Man has to put up with my side projects weekly. Here is the before picture of the chairs:
The seat and arms had lost most of the finish and I was tired of the stained look. I wanted to get out of my usual go to neutrals, and used Glidden Exterior Marine Blue paint. Originally I planned on spray painting, but Bill at Home Depot convinced me to use a skinny roller. I also used a foam brush to get into little crevices.
These chairs definitely brightened up our back porch!
I have to go into school this week to get some work done. It is happening, summer is ending. I am excited to share my biggest summer project this week. Stay tuned!

Terracotta + Puff Paint
Hello! SO sorry I have been MIA lately, life has been a little hectic and I have had a stupid cold... I keep telling myself that I will survive this spring! Can I get an Amen from the teachers reading this? This project came about because our kitchen table needed a little sprucing up, and I was needed an easy project while stuck on the couch this weekend. This project only requires 5 things and costs $10!!!
Terracotta Pot
House Plant {I got mine from Home Depot}
Pencil
Measuring Tape
White Puff Paint
I love this project because you can do any pattern you want. I was wanting tribal/geometric/fun pattern to make the room feel more summery. To make my pattern I used a measuring tape and made tick marks every 1/2 inch around the rim of the pot.
I made another row of tick marks every a half inch below the ones I already made. Then I connected the dots with diagonal lines. After the first couple rows were finished I applied the puff paint onto the pot. The only tricky part of this was getting the dots close to the same size. The real reason I decided to work on the pot in sections is because I am a wimp...but the puff paint made my hand cramp when I tried to do too much at the same time! ha
I continued the same process until the pot was covered with puff paint!
What do you think of my new tray? That was my lone Lily Pulitzer purchase from the Target craziness. I wasn't planning on going to Target, because I didn't even want to know if they had anything left at 9am. Then we ran out of toilet paper. I HAD to go. No other option.
Cheers to it being Wednesday and the weather being back in the 70's. I don't know if I can handle any more weird looks...Don't these Denver people know that 50 degrees is cold?

Kitchen Transformation
Happpppppy FRIDAY y'all!!! I have been asked {by my Momma} to share some pictures of our painted kitchen cabinets. What do you think?!
The before picture is almost unrecognizable! I am working on two posts on how we went about painting the cabinets. This was not a small {or easy} process, but I think the results are totally worth it!
As you can see, we still have a little work to do. Installing the counter tops is our next big project, and I am anxious to get started!
I hope you have a fabulous weekend filled with lots of sunshine, hamburgers, and SLEEP {that's what I am hoping for, at least}!

Extending Kitchen Cabinets to the Ceiling
We have some REALLY EXCITING things going on in the kitchen right now!!! I can barely contain my excitement. :) I showed you that picture to make sure you remembered where we started...
Removing the island made the room look so much more open. You can see more detailed progress posts {here and here}. Unfortunately, I still felt like there was something missing from the room. After a couple debates and a lot of google searching we decided to extended the cabinets to the ceiling. Tall Tan Man started by attaching wood blocks {he used a 2x2} 3/4 inch away from the edge of the cabinet.
He also attached blocks to the ceiling that were the same distance from the edge of the cabinet.
Next he used his favorite new tool, a nail gun, to attach 1x10's to the wood blocks. We were really lucky, because we had exactly 10 inches above the cabinets to the ceiling.
For the first time since we moved in our kitchen actually felt like it was coming together {even if it was just a tiny bit}!
Up next he added trim to hide the seam between the cabinets and the new wood.
We bought the trim at Home Depot, AND for the first time in my life the trim I wanted was the cheapest one. :) We also bought the crown molding at Home Depot.
Tall Tan Man loved every moment of it...
That stud muffin only messed up on one cut {and it was his first cut}!!!
Lastly, TTM went through and caulked the trim and molding.
Guess what... Everything is getting painted over SPRING BREAK! Guess what... I am on SPRING BREAK! I really love being a teacher {seriously, I do}. I have been telling people that we are painting the cabinets white and I have gotten two reactions.
Oh, they are going to look amazing!!!

Cabinet Makeover
I love furniture that can evolve with my always changing taste. We got this {craft cabinet} last year off of Craigslist, because our apartment {I} needed more storage space. Now we have an {office} that I LOVE and no longer need the storage space! I am so excited I get to share this second makeover with y'all! ***If you are first timer to the blog, our house is under major construction. Please try to ignore the awful floor...
I have wanted to paint the inside of a bookcase since I pinned {this} beauty TWO years ago...
Pretty dreamy right?
Our sun room is still a work in progress, but this new cabinet is helping make the room look more homey!
I hope you have a great rest of your week. :) We are half way to Friday!
