Whitewashing Brick

Hello!  If you follow me on instagram then you know I painted the brick in our sunroom a few weeks ago.  This was something I've wanted to do for years, but since I thought we were moving I shouldn't waste my time.  Well, since we are NOT moving I decided it was my time to waste!

Let me start by saying that I wanted an exposed brick wall in our house... turns out our brick was ugly... had tons of wood glue all over it... and was way too purple for me.

One reason I haven't posted these after pictures is because I need to change up the gallery wall above the couch.  The black frames were too harsh of a contrast and I am hoping a painting I am getting from my Grandad's house will work.  The only problem is it will be a few more months before I get it... For now I stole a mirror from our {laundry room} and hung it where the clock use to be {hence it being off centered}!

I definitely need something big above the couch to break up the wall and speaking of our couch... All I can see in these photos is our BROKEN couch.  Tall Tan Man told me I could get a new couch by Labor Day if he hadn't fixed it.  Who wants to go couch shopping with me?!?

Maybe I just need to do some better cropping of my pictures.  😂

If you are wondering how we broke our couch it was from Tall Tan Man leaning on it...

So many jokes, too little time.  If you are new around here let me show you where this room started.  Prepare yourself, it's bad!

What purpose do you have wall?! None.

So much dust {and decor that I needed to get rid of}

Progress and perfect blanket placement over the broken couch...

Now!  I love it!  It definitely took me a few days to get use to it and now I wouldn't go back even if I could.  Tall Tan Man's Gpa's GF {you got that?} said "oh, that looks different!"  😂 Yes, yes it does.

Now I realize that this post doesn't really have a tutorial in it.  All I did was mix 1 cup water with 1 cup Benjamin Moore Dove White, and slapped it up there.  I painted some bricks thicker than others and that was that.  Nothing too hard, perfect project for the non-perfectionist!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
